First of all…what are buyer personas? According to Hubspot “Buyer personas are fictional, generalized characters that encompass the various needs, goals, and observed behavior patterns among your real and potential customers.”
In the article How To Develop Your Buyer Persona And Reel In Better Customers, Charles E. Gaudet II wrote “If you wanted to catch a fish, what would be the best way to go about it? Well, you could choose a spot at random, fit your line with whatever was on special at the bait and tackle store, and simply hope for the best. Is it possible to catch fish this way? Of course. Put your line in the ocean long enough, and you’ll probably get lucky. But it’s certainly not the best strategy.”
Buyer personas help you get to know and understand, not only your customers, but your prospective customers. Knowing what your target customers likes makes it easier to tailor content, messages, products, and services to the specific needs, behaviors, and concerns of your ideal customer.
At the most basic level, personas help your team position your messaging, content and offers to appeal to your target audience. Personas allow you to personalize your messages so that your user isn’t being served the same information over and over. Developing different personas help position your content to easily and effectively segment your audience.
